Book Multiple Resources Simultaneously

I'm working with a database I have created based on the RandR 8.5.3 database. The customer has pieces of theatre equipment for which there could be 32 pieces of the same equipment.

I understand that each piece of equipment must be created as a separate resource, but if, on the Search button of the New Reservation form, I only displayed 1 of those types of resource (if more than 1 are free), could I then have the user identify how many pieces of equipment they want and have an agent programmatically book the other resources, or would that cause problems for the clubusy database?

If this is not acceptable, or is not the best method to use, how best could I achieve what is required?
